Manufacturing Process of Custom Wax Papers

1. Wood Selection & Sourcing

The production process starts for the manufacturing of custom wax paper sheets after selecting the woods based on high cellulose content with low lignin. The woods are sustainably sourced from FSC-certified forests.

2. Debarking & Chipping

After the removal of the outer bark. The large wooden logs are chipped into smaller wood chips.

3. Chemical Pulping & Cooking

The chemicals are mixed with wood chips and cooked at a high temperature. This heating dissolves the lignin, and pure cellulose fibers are separated from it.

4. Pulp Washing & Separation

After the heating process, the drum and pressure are used to remove the lignin and chemicals from the slurry.

5. Beating & Additives

The slurry of pulp is then beaten to make the surface of the paper smoother. At this stage, the additives like starch are mixed to give these paper sheets a grease and oil resistance property.

6. Sheet Formation & Dewatering

The slurry of pulp and water is spread on the moving mesh, where the dryer machines remove the water and moisture. At the same stage, these sheets are also pressed through the rollers, which removes the remaining water and compacts the fibers.

7. Calendering & Surface Finishing

To make the surface of the sheets glossy and uniform, they are passed through the heated rollers.

8. Wax Coating

After preparing the surface, they are coated with wax.

9. Printing & Ink Curing

After this, the water-based, soy-based or vegetable-based inks are used for printing the sheets. To make sure the print stays vibrant the hot air and infrared dryers are used to cure the ink quickly.

10. Cutting & Sizing

The high-precision cutters are used to cut the custom-printed wax paper into customized sizes.

11. Quality Control & Testing

These customized sheets are now being tested by the quality control department, where their wax, oil, heat resistance, and food-safe features are tested.

12. Packaging & Labelling

After approval from the department, these custom-printed papers are packed into bundles with the labelling of size and specifications.

Types of Custom Wax Paper

The wax paper sheets are differentiated by the coating on them. The types of coating are as follows,

• Paraffin Wax Coating: This coating is made by using the wax derived from petroleum refining, as it makes the paper grease, oil, and moisture resistant. • Microcrystalline Wax Coating: Same as coated with paraffin wax, but contains cyclic hydrocarbons and gives the wrapping paper more heat, oil, and grease resistance qualities.
